The weather was cold at 9 degrees that morning. My little girl woke up earlier than usual. We were all excited to go to Sanrio Puroland.

Our room rate does not include breakfast but there were heaps of restaurants near the hotel so it was never a problem. Most of the restaurants opens at 10:00 am. It was only 9 in the morning and we were lucky to find a 24 hour noodle shop just 3 minutes walk from the hotel.
The portion was big, i asked for an extra bowl and my daughter and i shared. Gyoza was really really good. It was tasty and crispy on the outside.
Total bill for 2 sets Y112 (HK$112---PHP 648) |
Immediately after we eat, we made our way to Shinjuku Station. We decided to buy Suica Card (like HK's octopus card) so we don't need to buy ticket from the vending machine everytime we ride the train.
Y500 deposit (HK$33--- PHP 191) plus Y2,000 load each card (HKD132---PHP 763) There is Y220 handling charge when returning the card, so only Y330 is returned along with any remaining amount. |
Located on the western outskirts of Tokyo in Tama City, it was an hour train ride and 10 minutes walk to Sanrio Puroland. Here's what we captured along the way.

The park was full with families and preschool children.
There's a Sanrio Character Boat ride similar to It's A Small World of Disneyland where you can see all the Sanrio Characters. It was the cutest thing ever!

There are many eateries in the park ranging from cafes to food court. We headed to the food court and the service was a little slow when we were queing in the line. Perhaps many tourists were too spoil for choice. They took a longer time to decide what to order when served.
Hubs ordered the "Sparkling Night Sky Omellete"

The second and last ride was the "My Melody and Kuromi- My Me Road Drive". It was just like the boat ride but this time we were riding on a "melocar". There were six photo spots during the ride. After getting off the ride, parkgoers can decorate and purchase these pictures.

There was a parade and performance that afternoon but we didn't watch it. It was already 4 in the afternoon and we were scheduled to go to Odaiba. So after a wholesome of cuteness we made our way back to the subway heading to Odaiba. But before that, we stopped by Mister Donut to buy some snacks, a piece of donut cost Y118-162 per piece depending on the flavor. (HK$8-11/ PHP 45-62). Di masarap yung bread....
Tama Center to Tokyo Teleport Station (Odaiba) was an hour and fifteen minutes away...it was a long ride.
Complimentary shuttle bus going to and from Oedo Onsen Monogatari is available at Tokyo Teleport Station. Travel time is 7 minutes.
shuttle bus stop.... in front of Venus Fort |
Oedo Onsen Monogatari is a natural onsen (hot spring) in the Odaiba near Tokyo Bay. It features six different types of baths. The bathing room is separated by male and female but the entire bath house requires full nudity (you read it right...FULL NUDITY!). Upon entering the Onsen, we were given lockers and keys... The first locker was for the shoes and the second one was for the clothes. Before going to the changing room, everyone gets to choose a yukata. We were told to explicitly strip and then pre-washed before being allowed to enter the pools.
Yukata counter... |
No person with tattoos are allowed in the Onsen, so if you can't plausibly cover yours, you shouldn't go.

there's a common outdoor foot bath |
The onsen is a popular family destination as well and features a social section with snacks, games, ice cream and alcoholic beverages.
she had fun playing this |
In the gender-separated bathing area you will be given a small wash and larger drying towel. You will then have to take off your Yukata and leave it in the locker along with the drying towel. Having the small towel, you can now decide which private part you want to cover. If you are too shy you can choose to cover your face instead hehe. One of the many nice things about the Japanese is that they really mind their own business no one will stare at you even if you bumble foolishly around.
Each pool is designated a certain temperature and there were roughly 10 pools total. All are heated from 38-42 degrees except one cold pool, which was set to a freezing 20 degrees. The hot water feels great after a day of stomping around Tokyo. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, moisturizer and make up remover were all available and included in the admission fee.
We stayed in the onsen for about 4 hours.
Adult admission ticket after 6 PM
Y2180 (HK$144/ PHP 832) per adult
Food:
Y2100 (HK$138.50/ PHP 801)
Game:
Y315 (HK$21/ PHP 120)
Total Bill: Y6,775 (HK$446 / PHP 2,585)
Next, we went to see the Giant Gundam Robot in Diver City. Almost all of the shops in the Mall were already closed. It was quite a long walk to reach where it is located.
Our last and final stop for the day, the Rainbow Bridge.... we also saw the Statue of Liberty replica but wasn't able to get a good shot of it.
The bridge is illuminated at night with 444 solar-powered lamps that change color with the seasons. |
All in all, it was a pretty long and packed day.. It was getting late and so we made our way back to the hotel. We rode the Yurikamome train, which is a driverless and elevated train. It crosses the Rainbow Bridge and offer spectacular views of the harbour and Tokyo waterfront. By the time we reached the hotel it was already 12:30 am.
